Head of Claims (Ref XXXX)
The candidate must have a bachelor degree from a well known university and possess at least 5 years experience in an Insurance company. One must have a professional qualification like ACll, or AIII or FCll or equivalent. Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements is an added advantage.
The Head of Claims is reporting directly to the CEO, with independent charge aiming at achieving the overall corporate objectives of sustained growth with profitability in operations to establish the top echelon of insurers in Tanzania Market.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Smoothing and making an effective function of the Claims Department (both motor and non-motor claims).
• Improving and updating procedures and processes to meet the turnaround time.
• The appointment of surveyors, survey of large claims along with loss assessors, claims monitoring and control to ensure claims are within budgeted claims ratio.
The review of ‘claims provisions’ on a quarterly basis.
Having regular interaction with brokers and clients for effective claims servicing.
Providing regular feedback to underwriters to improve the underwriting standards.
Interacting with reinsurers on cash calls and recovery from coinsurers etc.
Supervising and training branches on claims matters.
Handling the ‘Underwriting & Reinsurance’ Department as and when required.
